About Our Coaches and Programs
Fun is the key to these programs designed to get you to your goal - with some hard work in the mix! ClubRun head coaches have USATF Coaching Certification with a minimum of 5 years running/coaching experience. All of our coaches have completed one or more coaches training programs. Training groups are structured to ensure that all pace groups are recognized.
ClubRun Training Programs
ClubRun offers several training options to provide the flexibility to meet your needs. New features for 2010 include:
- "Drop In Pass" designed for the casual runner allows you to jump in a class any time your schedule permits.
- Core/base Intermediate Training if offered continuously from January through November.
- Intermediate Training includes two levels: 5K - 10K and 10K - Half-Marathon.
- Saturday Runs are open to all ClubRun members with several distance options each week.
- "Drop In Pass" works as a Saturday only option for those who cannot make it during the week.
Each training program includes the following:
- Two structured workouts/week
- Group training runs on Saturdays
- Written training plans with recommended daily workouts/rest days
- Weekly coaches' e-mails with training details and tips
All abilities are welcome, whether a new runner or a seasoned veteran, 13 min/mile pace or 6 min/mile pace.
New Runner Training
Especially for runners just getting started, the New Runner class is designed for those who are able to run/walk at least a mile. The goal is to have you running 3 miles comfortably. All ages and abilities welcome.
Class meets Tuesday and Thursday night at 6 p.m. with a coach for group workouts during each 8 week session. Saturday runs are optional. Written workout calendars covering each day of the session are provided. Typical training pace is 9-12 minutes/mile.

Intermediate Training
Designed for runners interested in improving their strength and speed over distances of 5K to the Half Marathon. These sessions are also great for building your base in preparation for marathon training. You don't have to compete with others to participate in this class - all you need is a desire to get stronger and/or faster at your favorite distance.
Class is offered continuously from January through November. You can jump in and out as your schedule and training needs dictate. Intermediate Level I is designed for participants working on distances of 5K to 10K. Participants should be able to run 3 miles comfortably. Level II is for those working on distances of 10K to Half Marathon. Intermediate Training is offered on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6 p.m.
Marathon Training
Open to all abilities, first timers and veterans. Class is divided into pace groups. Typical training pace is 7 to 12 minutes/mile. Runners should have a base of 25-30 miles per week before joining class.
Class meets Monday and Wednesday night at 6 p.m. with a coach for group workouts during each 16 week session. Saturday long runs over 15 miles are supported with water, PowerAde, and goodies. Written workout calendars covering each day of the session are provided.

Registration/Fees
Complete information on ClubRun membership, training and fees is available on our membership page. ClubRun is based at Kenwood Park Center, 2101 W. Franklin Ave near Lake of the Isles. This is where we meet to run.

She has several years experience as a Group Fitness Instructor in addition to having run several marathons and completing 5 Ironman Triathlons. |
![]() | Jon SteinJon has been running since high school and has completed 54 marathons with a PR of 2:51:52. He has qualified for Boston four times. Jon has been a coach for ClubRun Kenwood Kids Camp, Beginning runner training and the Drumstick Dash training group. Jon believes that training should be fun, educational, personalized, and that motivating his training group is the key to their success. |
